Two of BC’s most beloved artists join forces for a double bill matinee of spirit, vitality and groove.

Ann and Rick first worked together in 1982 when she cast him as Sufferton in her family musical Reflections on Crooked Walking at the Arts Club, thus launching his theatrical career. Rick went on to star in Barnum, The Late Blumer and Angry Housewives and to international renown as a roots and children’s performer. www.rickscott.ca

Legendary singer Ann Mortifee takes us on a magical adventure weaving stories and songs from seven decades of her life which began in South Africa and has led her around the globe. An internationally renowned performer of spellbinding power, Ann enthralls and inspires with her rich, four octave voice, dramatic presence and soul-stirring music. Fearlessly creative and evocative, her career as performer, composer, author and community activist has spanned seven decades and continents. In this rare concert appearance, she will be accompanied by a trio of brilliant musicians: Ed Henderson (guitar), Finn Manniche (cello) and Miles Black (keyboards).

 


Rick Scott and Nico Rhodes – Roots & Grooves

Rick Scott is his own genre, an award winning singer/songwriter and three time Juno nominee. Since pioneering BC rogue folk with Pied Pumpkin, over 40 years he has released 19 albums and performed in nine countries. Last year he joined forces with young Nanaimo keyboardist Nico Rhodes to form Roots & Grooves, an inter-generational musical smorgasbord of folk, jazz and blues.

Ann Mortifee

Singer Ann Mortifee is a genre unto herself. Blessed with a remarkable four-octave range and a gift for impacting hearts with her music and lyrics, her albums, concerts, full-length musicals, scores (ballet, film, opera, TV), and In Love with the Mystery book have generated national/international distinctions and awards. She is an Order of Canada Member, the country’s highest civilian honour. A world traveller, compelling storyteller, and sought-after keynote speaker for major conferences, Ann creates and facilitates inspiring arts and consciousness workshops and co-founded two foundations - for social innovation and for forestry conservation. Based in BC, Ann is the wife of the late jazz flutist, Paul Horn.
