World Premiere of “Awaken”

1024 661 Ann Mortifee

So looking forward to the premiere of this film on October 8, 2020!

Created by Creatively United in partnership with Ballet Victoria, this film features original music composed, sung and orchestrated by Canada’s multi award-winning legend, Ann Mortifee, in collaboration with Ed Henderson (guitar), and Finn Manniche (cello).

From Creatively United for the Planet: Although we took a hiatus from our webinar series this summer, we didn’t take a break from standing up for our precious trees and forests. In addition to calling on our government for a New Forest Framework and reminding local governments of the importance of trees, this October 8th, we will host the international premiere of the short film Awaken.

The story follows the delightful journey of a young girl and her dog who discover the magical wonders of the forest thanks to guidance from forest sprites. Shot in one of the few remaining intact wild urban forests in Saanich, the film Awaken was created to help bring awareness to the importance of protecting and preserving forest habitat.

This film will be introduced by co-producers Frances Litman, founder of Creatively United, and Paul Destrooper, Artistic Director of Ballet Victoria, at the opening night performance of Ballet Victoria’s The Little Prince. Both are presented thanks to the generous sponsorship of Creatively United’s esteemed partner Jon O’Riordan of the Gail O’Riordan Climate and the Arts Legacy Series and the City of Victoria Strategic Plan Grant.
